The very first in history of Olympic games a medal for a victory, played in 1896 in Athenes, has been stolen from sports museum in Tokyo. On it informs AFP. Medal loss has been found out by museum workers on Sunday, on March, 14th. On Monday in police the message on theft has arrived.

Silver Gold

The award though and executed from silver, it has been handed over for a victory in high jumps to German gymnast Hermann Weingartner. After death, the family of the German gymnast has descended a medal to the Japanese gymnast Yukio Endo. This event has taken place on the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964.

Delivery of silver medals to champions was usual practice in the first years of Olympic movement. Since 1908 the International Olympic Committee has started to hand over gold, silver and bronze awards to the sportsmen who have taken the first, second and third places accordingly.
